"Makes me wanna wear my moose pelvic headdress and power dance spring equinox mountain chants beside the Matanuska Glacier." –Wild Bill Schmidtkunz, Sutton, Alaska
A chance encounter with street musicians in Sydney, Australia gave Mike Starling his first taste of the didgeridoo and he immediately sought to incorporate the earthy rumble of the ancient Aboriginal wind instrument into his music.
That became a prime catalyst for this genre-defying mix that blends traditional rock instrumentation (guitars, bass, keys, drums) with digital loops and some of the exotic wind and percussion instruments Starling has collected in his travels (bohdran, kalimba, teponatzli, güiro, didgeridoo, Native American courting flute, etc).
Several of these tunes have been featured on movie and TV soundtracks on the Discovery Channel, A&E, Animal Planet, Biography, the Travel Channel and more. Others are available for the first time.
